Annual Monticello Naturalization Ceremony

Event Details - I am posting this event very far in advance because this is going to be a high demand event, not just for Get Hiking, but for the Charlottesville area because of the keynote speaker this year. Every year, I have posted this event as the big event of the summer months. The naturalization ceremony this year at Monticello will feature renowned historian and filmmaker Ken Burns as the keynote speaker as new citizens will take the oath of US citizenship. Ken Burns' new project, The American Revolution: An Evening with Ken Burns will be Thursday, July 3rd. The event organizer has not decided if he will post this event as well.

This event is logistically challenging because of the size and scope of this community event. I will do everything that I can to meet up with people either at the shuttle location or at Monticello. I have booked my shuttle for 7:30 AM. There are multiple shuttles at multiple times departing from Piedmont Virginia Community College. Tickets are free. You will still need to have a ticket to attend. Tickets can be "bought" at the link below.

There will be an optional post hike or lunch at Carter Mountain following the Naturalization Ceremony.
