Paddle the South Fork Shenandoah River

I plan to paddle the South Fork Shenandoah River below Shenandoah. About 8 miles. We will stop for lunch on a shaded beach, enjoy the wonderful views of the nearby mountains, and I can point out some of the historic remnants along the river.
This is a bring your own boat event. If you don't have access to one, you can post on here and see if anybody can loan you one, paddlers often have an extra boat or 2.
This is a novice level trip. You need to know the basics, but don't need significant skills or experience. There are a few small class I-II rapids on this section, but nothing intimidating. I can help you out, show you the lines, give tips, etc.
We are meeting at the put. After we unload we will shuttle cars to the takeout. After we finish we will load the cars we left at the takeout and head back to the put in. So this is a downstream, point to point trip. no upstream paddling!
Please Bring: Plenty of water, sports drink, etc. lunch, snacks, sunscreen, brimmed hat. small cooler if you want. wear swimsuit & clothes you don't mind getting wet and possibly a bit muddy. Wear shoes with good traction and that won't come off easily (ie, no flip flops!) Most people wear "water shoes" or Tevas. I usually wear my old running shoes.
