Walnut Creek Park-3-mile Scenic Spring Hike! Well-Behaved, Leashed Dogs Welcome

Details
This hike is at the 525-acre scenic, peaceful Walnut Creek Park in the southern section of Albermarle County. There may or may not be a small fee - about $3 per person to enter the park and free for seniors. Often there is no attendent collecting fees.
Hike Route: Modified blue loop. This hike is a good one – providing an opportunity to walk along the lakeside and look out over the lake from a slightly higher elevation. The hike is a combination of several trails. So, we will have a leader in front and one at sweep. If you decide to leave the group, please let one of the hike leaders know.
Time: 10:00 am – We will take a few minutes for introductions and Trivia while Trekking and then begin our walk.
Weather: Forecast is partly sunny, mid 60s. Perfect for hiking! A steady rain cancels this activity. If there is a cancellation, attendees will be notified one hour prior to hike time.
Parking: The address is 4250 Walnut Creek Park, North Garden, VA. After entering the park, drive ALL THE WAY to the end of the paved road where it dead ends into the parking lot. You will see a semi-open pavilion and beach with a chain link fence. Meet at the end of the parking lot (right side of pavilion), near the restrooms and information sign. Please build in an extra few minutes to get there so we can start the hike on time.
Hike Leaders: The hike leader Nancy-703-627-9237 typically drives a red Toyota and wears a baseball style hat and is accompanied by Milo, her hike-loving dog.
Hike Preparation: Bring water! Hiking poles not necessary - though may be useful.
Dog Policy: Dogs should be on a short (max 6', non-retractable) leash and owners need to pick up after their dog. Be sure to bring drinking water. Dogs need to be well-behaved and capable of keeping up with the pace of hikers.
RSVP Specifics: Sign up. Once signed up, if you decide not to attend, please update RSVP to No/Not Going, as soon as possible-at least 24 hours in advance, so others on the waitlist can join in. Same-day cancellations do not allow those on the waitlist to prepare for the hike.
Waitlist: If you are on the wait list and decide you do not wish to hike if a spot becomes available, respectfully update to Not Going 24 hours in advance of the hike so that others can have your waitlist spot.
