Monticello Trail

Let’s go for an easy 4+ mile round trip walk on the beautiful-in-any-season Monticello Trail. The gradual elevation gain is 460 feet.
Leashed dogs are welcome.

Meet at the far end of the parking lot, near the trail entrance. NOTE: Parking is in the MAIN LOT on Hwy. 20, not the small upper parking area off Hwy. 53. Introductions usually take about 5 minutes.

RSVP: Please immediately update your RSVP to "Not Going" if you find that you cannot attend the event (EDIT RSVP at the bottom of the event’s page). No shows and repeat last-minute cancelers will be moved to Not Going on future hikes. If you feel you have been flagged as a No Show in error, please send me a Meetup message!

WEATHER: pouring rain or thunder and lightning will cancel this walk. Otherwise, we go.

DIRECTIONS: From Charlottesville and I-64, take Rt. 20 south toward Scottsville. After I-64 ramps, pass through the light at College Drive, continuing to the next intersection at Rt. 53. You will see the parking lot on the left, but it is illegal to make a U turn here. There are two options to position yourself northbound on Rt. 20:

Option 1) Left onto Hwy. 53 for about 100', then turn around in small upper parking lot on the right, returning back to Hwy. 20 northbound, then right on Dairy Barn Road.
Option 2) Stay on Hwy. 20, through the light at Hwy. 53, then right onto Willow Lake Drive. Make a U turn, then left onto Hwy. 20 northbound, and right on Dairy Barn Road.
