Cycle North Carolina Mountain Ride (Sylva)

Come join us for the most popular road biking event in Western North Carolina! The Cycle North Carolina Mountain Ride is a perfect weekend getaway for any outdoor enthusiast and their family. Enjoy a 3-day cycling festival featuring a variety of route options each day that focus on showcasing the beautiful landscapes that Western North Carolina has to offer. The campsite is spread throughout downtown Sylva along Scotts Creek, offering easy access to this quaint Mountain town. Indoor camping and RVs are welcome on the ride plus there are multiple hotel and rental property options as well.

Sylva is the county seat of Jackson County. The downtown area is lined with a collection of eclectic restaurants, breweries, and shops that are open year-round. Sylva was also named one of the "Top 10 Cleanest Cities in the US" by Expedia.com, due in part to its green and eco-friendly initiatives, including being a certified Tree City featuring a stunning Tree Walk that showcases over 50 different species.

Notes:

1. You must register at https://ncsports.org/event/cyclenc_mountain_ride/. E-bikes are welcome.
2. Indoor or outdoor camping is included with the registration. I plan to camp outdoors.
3. A tentative itinerary will be posted a week before the ride.

Fri (8/1): Thunderstorms. High around 80F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 70%.
1:00 pm - check-in at Bridge Park (76 Railroad Ave, Sylva) and set-up indoor camping (46 Presbyterian Dr).
2:30 pm - warm-up ride of 24 miles (Balsam Mtn Tune Up). Meet at Start/Finish banner in Bridge Park.
5:30 pm - Cycle NC Welcome and Happy Hour at Motion Makers Bike Shop (36 Allen St).
7:00 pm - Concert with PMA – Bridge Park, 76 Railroad Avenue. Food trucks available.

Sat (8/2): Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. High 76F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 50%.
7:30 am - meet at Start/Finish banner for the day's ride (15-orange, 27-green, 47-yellow, 65-white miles). Bring cash. I'll be wearing a black and gold Army Black Knights cycling jersey.
5:00 pm - CNC Mountain Ride Social and Meal at Lifeway Church (31 Allen St) in Downtown Sylva!

Sun (8/3) - A shower or two possible early with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. High around 75F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 30%.
7:30 am - meet at Start/Finish banner for the day's ride (25-orange, 38-green, 44-yellow, 57-white miles). Bring cash. I'll be wearing a black and gold Army cycling jersey.
8:00 am - indoor camping closes.
12:00 pm - Showers open at the Sylva Municipal Pool. And, travel home.
