St. Mary’s Falls Trail. 4.3 moderate miles – 10 water crossings

Details
Join me for my annual summer trip to Saint Mary’s Falls. THERE IS A MAXIMUM OF 10 HIKERS as St. Mary's is a designated wilderness area.
St. Mary's is a beautiful spot for hiking and a summer dip. There are
10 water crossings and a swimming hole. The water crossings aren’t too deep, so I choose to walk through. If you want to cross on the rocks, you’ll be happy to have poles.
St. Mary's is Virginia's largest designated Wilderness area. Wilderness areas often have unimproved trails, so you will be doing some rock scrambling. We will stop at the swimming hole for a snack and a swim if you want and then hike back to the parking lot.
Here is the All Trails link. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/virginia/saint-marys-falls-trail St. Mary's is about an hour from Charlottesville. Use your GPS or follow the All Trails directions.
Notes:
-
Wear sturdy boots or hiking shoes to protect your ankles.
-
Leashed dogs are welcome. Small dogs might have a hard time with the water crossings.
-
Bring water as I am bossy about that.
-
Please wear sunscreen and bug spray.
-
No guests because of the small group limitations.
-
Please arrive a few minutes early. St. Mary’s gets crowded, and parking is limited so you may have to park down the road.
-
Please don’t be a no-show or cancel at the last minute.
