Jones Run & Doyle's River Falls – moderately strenuous 7 miles

Details
This is considered one of the most popular waterfall hikes in the southern section of the Shenandoah National Park. There are several falls along Jones Run, plus two large falls on Doyle's River. Our hike will start at the Browns Gap parking area (mile post 83 in the Park). It is a circuit hike of just under 7 miles which should take us about 3 1/2 hours. From the parking area, we will hike south on the Appalachian Trail where we will connect with the Jones Run Trail, then the Doyle's River Trail. We will stop for a quick snack and then take a fire road back to the parking area. A good portion of this hike follows the Jones and Doyle's Rivers, includes three significant waterfalls, cascades, and a few water crossings.
A few notes:
- Well behaved leashed dogs are welcome
- I am bossy about water so please be sure to have plenty.
- There is a $30 fee to enter the Park.
- I limit my mountain hikes to 14 people.
- I do not allow guests on the weekend to accommodate our hikers who can't hike during the week.
Difficulty: Moderately Strenuous. This hike has 1,400' of elevation gain. This is NOT an easy hike - moderate with a few challenging sections.
RSVP: If you find that you're not going to be able to attend the hike, please update your RSVP to "No" as soon as possible. This allows those on the waitlist to have the opportunity to attend. No-shows will not be allowed on future hikes.
