Hike Highlights - Doyles River Overlook, Brown Gap, Skyline Drive, Jones Run Trail, Dundo Picnic Grounds, Blackrock Summit
Hike Details - This is going to be an out and back hike from the Doyles River Overlook on Skyline Drive. From the parking area, we will start hiking on the Appalachian Trail southbound. This stretch of Appalachian Trail stays close to and crosses Skyline Drive 3 times. We should start to see the first signs of the fall colors as we hike on the ridgeline to the 360-degree viewpoints of Blackrock Summit. Blackrock Summit is a giant boulder field that we will play around on and climb. It is also our turnaround spot for this hike. We will retrace our steps back on the Appalachian Trail to our cars at the Doyles River Overlook. Following the hike, there will be an optional post hike at one of the breweries in the Crozet area. There are multiple options including Blue Mountain and Pro Rx Nata.
