Biscuit Run-Short Notice (Sat a.m.)-Beat the Heat, Dog Friendly!

Details

Biscuit Run Park is the largest County Park in Albemarle County-1,190 acres which contain extensive natural areas and scenic landscapes that are generally uncommon so close to Charlottesville. We will do a 3-4 mile hike. Exact route to be determined by start of the hike.

Time: Saturday August 16 at 9:00 am

Weather: It will a hot day. However, our 9 am start time forecast is only 77 degrees on a hike that has a reasonable amount of shade. (A steady rain cancels this activity. If there is a cancellation, attendees will be notified one hour prior to hike time).

Parking/Meeting: We will meet in the parking lot - 2020 Scottsville Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22911 - off Route 20 (Scottsville Road), just south of Avon Street. The lot is on the right going south 3 miles from Rt. I-64. As a point of reference: It's 1.2 miles north of Eastwood Farm and Winery.

Hike Leaders: (Nancy-703-627-9237) and (Ken-703-622-5431) generally wear baseball style hats and are accompanied by Milo, their hike-loving black/brown brindle coat dog.

Hike Preparation: Bring water! Hiking poles may be useful. Well-behaved dogs are welcome! They should be on a short (max 6', non-retractable) leash, well-behaved, and capable of keeping up with the hikers. Bring water and bag(s) so you can hydrate and pick up after your dog.

Specifics: Sign up. Once signed up, if you decide not to attend, please update RSVP to No/Not Going, as soon as possible-at least 24 hours in advance, so others on the waitlist can join in. Same-day cancellations do not allow those on the waitlist to prepare for the hike. Waitlist: If you are on the wait list and decide you do not wish to hike if a spot becomes available, respectfully update to Not Going 24 hours in advance of the hike so that others can have your waitlist spot.
