James Monroe Highland Mountain Trails Loop 4-5 miles: moderate hike

Please Note: James Monroe Highland Park opens at 9:30 AM so we will start our hike at 10 AM. You cannot enter before 9:30 in the parking lot.

Highland Park is a historic property and a working farm.
Join me for a nice hike on a wonderful day on Highland’s moderate Red Mountain Loop walking with some steep inclines. Elevation is about 600 feet. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and walking and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.
Than we will be finishing our hike with easy Outer South Pasture Blue trail loop (Optional).

Directions: In case your GPS takes you to some other place, then follow the directions as: Take I-64 East towards Richmond: Take Exit 121A (20 South): Go about 0.5 miles: Turn Left on VA-53 East: Go ~3.2 miles: Turn Right on James Monroe PKWY: Destination will be on right

We will meet in front of the gift shop near the trail entrance on August 27th, 2025 at 10:00 AM (Wednesday).
Bring water, wear your hiking shoes, bring your poles if you like.
