Crabtree Falls moderately difficult ~3.5-mile hike

Details

Crabtree Falls is a series of cascade water falls in Nelson County, Virginia, known as the tallest waterfall in the East with a significant hike to the top. The area features a scenic, moderately difficult ~3.5-mile out-and-back hike with an incline of 1000 ft. The hike to the top is considered moderate, with some steep, rocky sections and stairs.
Hikers will encounter several viewpoints of the falls before reaching the top, with the final view overlooking Fork Mountain.

Warning signs advise against climbing on the slippery, moss-covered rocks in the river, as injuries and fatalities have occurred.
