PLEASE NOTE - Although this hike is rated as a moderate hike, we will be hiking unblazed trails during this hike. You will need to be comfortable with hiking some trails that do not get a lot of foot traffic. This hike is for experienced hikers.

Hike Highlights - Cove Mountain, Cove Mountain Trail, Glenwood Horse Trail, Appalachian Trail, Fall Colors, Multiple Vista Points, Waterfall

Hike Details - This is a circuit hike that is going to take us off the beaten trails of Shenandoah National Park. We are going to go down I-81 to Acadia, Virginia. We will make our way to the Cove Mountain Trailhead Parking. We will cross the bridge and climb up to the junction with the Glenwood Horse Trail. We will turn right on the Glenwood Horse Trail and hike to the junction with the Appalachian Trail. We will turn left on the Appalachian Trail. On this stretch of the Appalachian Trail, we will have multiple vista points and we will have the fall colors from those vista points. We will hike to highest point of the hike and the Cove Mountain Trail. We will turn left descend back to the cars. There will be an optional post hike at Devils Backbone in Lexington following the hike.
