Hanging Rock from Love Gap, 7 mile out and back, moderate hike

I will be heading back to Hanging Rock on what should be a sun-filled and frosty morning this Saturday, continuing my search for spectacular Autumn views from this iconic location on Three Ridges.

Distance: 7.3 miles
Elevation gain: 1,400 feet.
Pace: 2.25 to 2.5 mph
Where: For those wanting to carpool and/or caravan out together, we will meet at Barracks Road Shopping Center in front of Great Outdoor Provision Co. We will depart Barracks Road no later than 8:15 a.m - please arrive by 8:00 so that we can figure out who is riding with whom.
For anyone driving to the trailhead, meet us at Love Gap at approximately 0900-0915. Reminder, do not block the Forest Service gate or the private drive.

This is a Moderate out and back hike from Love Gap, starting on Fire Road 306 to the AT, with rocky terrain and a couple tough climbs to get to Hanging Rock with 270 degree views of the valley and the Priest. Prerequisite - please have hiked at least 7 mountain miles in the past month or so.
What to bring: Layered clothes, water, snacks/lunch, boots/shoes, first aid kit and hiking poles. We will be taking a nice, well-deserved break at the mid-way point of our hike - so bring snacks!!

I am open to post-hike rehydration in Nellysford after the hike if there is interest.
