PLEASE NOTE - This hike does go through a federally designated wilderness area. There are rules for the size of groups in wilderness areas. Groups can be no larger than 10 people. This hike is going to be capped at 10 people. This is not a hike for beginner or novice hikers. Please sign up only if you are an experienced hiker. If I have not hiked with you before, I will check your attendance on other hikes with Get Hiking Charlottesville before allowing you on this hike.

Hike Highlights - Reeds Gap, Appalachian Trail, Winter Time Views, Hanging Rock, Maupin Field Shelter

Hike Details - After a day of eating lots of turkey and fixings, people are going to need to burn off some calories from Thanksgiving. In an effort to burn those calories, we are going to hike the Appalachian Trail from Reeds Gap out to the Hanging Rock viewpoint. We will have unobstructed views of the Tye River Valley, The Priest, and Spy Rock. After soaking in the views, eating lunch, and taking lots of pictures, we will retrace our steps back to the cars at Reeds Gap. Following the hike, we will descend steeply down to Devils Backbone Brewery for a firepit, good beer, and good company.
