PLEASE NOTE - Even though winter has not officially started at this time, this hike should be treated as the first winter hike. You do need to bring the layers of clothes, the beanies, and the gloves. You will also need to bring plenty of water and even electrolytes for this winter hike. We are not going to have a lot of elevation on this hike, but we will need to be prepared for the possible winter conditions.
Hike Highlights - Nicholson Hollow Trail, Hughes River, Brokenback Run, PATC Corbin Cabin
Hike Details - This is a straight forward out and back hike along the Nicholson Hollow Trail up to the PATC Corbin Cabin. We are going to have a moderate climb as we ascend up the Nicholson Hollow Trail to the PATC Corbin Cabin. We will have multiple crossings of the Hughes River as we climb up to the PATC Corbin Cabin. We will also have multiple trails that lead to remote areas of Shenandoah National Park. Many of these trails do not get the foot traffic of nearby Old Rag. The hike leader will speak about these trails and where these trails go. Following the hike, we will have make our way to Blue Quartz Winery for a post hike glass, bottle, and a warm fire pit. The post hike will be optional.
