Kings Popcorn Stand to Mayo Homestead on the AT South – 7 easy/moderate miles

This is an out and back ridgeline hike. We’ll meet at the Kings Gourmet Popcorn Stand (130 Afton Cir, Afton, VA 22920 -- near the Rockfish Gap entrance of SNP) at 9 AM. To access the AT, we’ll cross the road and hike along the ridgeline with beautiful views of the valley until we get to the Mayo Homestead. We will turn around there and hike back to our parking lot. For those interested in a post hike lunch, we will go to Blue Mountain Brewery.
Notes:
- I limit my hikes in the mountains or wooded trails to 14 people for safety reasons.
- Leashed dogs are welcome.
- Please bring water even though it’s winter.
- I’ll cancel the day before if rain is predicted or the trails are icy.
- Please change your RSVP to “not going” if you can no longer attend.
