Exploratory Hike: Mutton Hollow/Vining Tract
Details
We are going to Explore the PATC Mutton Hollow District. Expect to hike 10 - 12 miles and up to 3,000 feet of elevation gain. The tentatively "planned" hike is ~10 miles and ~2700 feet of elevation gain, but we are exploring so be prepared to be flexible.

The PATC Mutton Hollow District refers to a section of land and trails managed by the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) in Virginia, known for its wilderness cabins like Mutton Top Cabin, offering panoramic views, primitive stays, and access to Shenandoah National Park, requiring volunteer maintenance for its extensive trail system within the Vining Tract. Weather: If inclement weather necessitates canceling or postponing the hike, the decision will be made no later than 7:00AM - cancellations will be posted on the hike comments section. Steady rain with not much chance of clearing and/or dangerous conditions will call for postponing the hike.
RSVP: If you find that you are NOT going to be able to attend the hike, please update your RSVP to “No” as soon as possible. This allows those on the waitlist to have the opportunity to attend.
