Starting & Ending Point - Two Mile Run Overlook (Milepost 76.2)
Distance/Elev Gain/Rating - 9.7 Miles/2,568'/Strenuous
Hike Details - PLEASE NOTE THE ELEVATION GAIN ON THIS HIKE. This is a lariat (lollipop) hike from the Two Mile Run Overlook in the Southern District of Shenandoah National Park. The first 2.1 miles is gradual loss of elevation on the Rocky Mt Trail. Continuing on the trail now uphill and to the summit in 1.3 miles. We'll continue on the same trail 2.0 miles and intersect the Gap Run Trail. It will continue 2.2 miles back to the "stick" of the lollipop at Rocky Mount Trail and take it back 2.1 miles to the start.
Conditions - This is going to be a late winter/early spring hike with a SIGNIFICANT elevation gain of 2,568'. Temps can vary greatly this time of year. Remember temperatures are 10 to 15 degrees colder than lower elevations. Monitor the weather and properly dress for the weather conditions. Suggest layers of clothing and proper gear for variable weather conditions.
