Hike: Mary's Rock from Buck Hollow Return via Pass Mountain
Get ready for a challenging hike with some elevation! This hike will be a shuttle hike. We will meet at the Pass Mountain parking. From there, we will consolidate all the hikers into as few cars as possible and make the short drive to the Buck Ridge/Buck Hollow parking where we will start our hike.
There will be a water crossing at the beginning of the hike that sometimes requires wading so be prepared. Once we cross the stream, we will begin our ascent up Buck Hollow Trail reaching Skyline Drive in about 3 miles and 1700 feet of elevation. We will cross Skyline Drive and continue the ascent on Meadow Springs Trail to the AT where we will head Northbound - making our way to Mary's Rock. (At this point we will have climbed a total of ~2,450 feet in ~4-1/2 miles). We can rest and recharge at Mary's Rock before beginning the descent to Panorama where we can stop and use the flush toilets! We will cross Skyline Drive and continue northbound on the AT ascending to Pass Mountain Trail. We will turn right on the Pass Mountain Trail and it's all downhill for the last 3 miles where we will arrive back at the cars we left at Pass Mountain Parking. A volunteer will need to take the drivers back to Buck Ridge/Buck Hollow parking to retrieve those cars.
An optional post hike rehydration will be at the Black Twig
