Jerry's Run (Mod. Strenuous)
Details
Jerry’s Run is a beautiful hike to hit before summer starts. We might see some nice wildflowers, newts, or some really cool slime molds. There are a lot of stream crossings on this hike, so come prepared to handle those accordingly.
Afterwards I’ll have a cooler and some snacks to share, so bring a chair and we can tailgate for a bit.
Difficulty Rating: Moderately Strenuous; approximately 8 miles with about 1,000 feet elevation gain
What to bring/wear: Appropriate footwear (including either shoes to change into for water crossings or boot covers), sunscreen, tick spray, snacks/lunch, 2-3 liters of water
Weather: If inclement weather is forecasted, I will either reschedule or cancel and repost for another date. I’d rather not push this one too far into the summer however, because although the water is nice in summer, the stinging nettles are not.
Dog Policy: Dogs are allowed. Please keep them leashed for their safety and for the comfort of other hikers and to avoid disturbing wildlife more than necessary. This area is on the more remote side. Leashes must be no longer than 6' in length.
Note: This hike is in a wilderness area. Regulations limit group size to no more than 10, so please pay attention to the RSVP section.
RSVP: If you find you’re not going to be able to attend, please update your RSVP to “Not Going” as soon as you can, to allow others on the waitlist adequate time to be notified to prepare. There is no cell service in this area whatsoever, so please be courteous and drop early if you must.
