Boars Head- Round Top trail (~5 miles | Moderate)
Details
Join us for a Friday morning hike up Round Top in Heyward Community Forest.
This ~5-mile out-and-back is a moderate hike with about 600 feet of elevation gain, but what really makes this route special is everything along the way. We’ll move through peaceful, shaded forest, pass small ponds and wetland areas, and keep an eye out for wildlife—this area is great for birdwatching, and it’s not uncommon to spot herons, hawks, and even beavers (and maybe a raccoon if we’re lucky).
This time of year especially, the trail is at its best. The trees and wildflowers are starting to bloom, the air smells incredible, and there’s a freshness to everything that makes the whole hike feel really grounding. Parts of the route open up to gentle, rolling hills as we pass along the golf course, which adds a nice change of scenery before we make our way up to the rocky summit.
The final stretch has a bit of a climb, but nothing too intense—just enough to get your heart rate up before being rewarded with beautiful views at the top.
Here's the AllTrails link here for anyone who wants a closer look.
After the hike, we’ll head to Selvedge Brewing (just a short distance away) if you’d like to grab a drink or a bite and hang out with the group.
