Details

The hike will be co-led by retired high school science teacher Keith Wimmer, who has a great interest in geology. We will take a close look at a couple of magnificent ancient boulders, as well as other rocks along the way and discuss their classifications: Igneous, Metamorphic, or Sedementary.

Keith welcomes input from others who may have more knowledge.

Bring water & wear sturdy shoes vs sandals, to negotiate a trail littered with lots of rocks and gnarly tree roots. Hiking poles optional. Dogs on leash.

We will meet at the far end of the parking lot, closest to the trailhead, near my red KIA suv, license: SEA WA.
(There was no cell signal the last time I was there.)

Directions: after passing the gatehouse, please continue past the lake, all the way to the end of the parking lot, at the trailhead. There is plenty of parking and restroom facilities.

There may be a fee to enter the park, which is $5.00 for non-County residents.

PLEASE NOTE: if there is a wait list, please don't sign up if you think you might end up cancelling, denying others the opportunity to join the hike.*

If any questions, call or text 540 688 8482.
