Event Details - To start the 4th of July weekend, the City of Charlottesville will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Downtown Mall. The Downtown Mall was built in 1976. There is going to be a full day of activities on the Downtown ending with the lantern parade through the Mall. I am going to list the times for each event on the 3rd of July. I will also provide a link if you are wanting to build your own lantern for the lantern parade.

10:00 AM - Tour of Downtown Mall by Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society

12:00 PM & 2:00 PM - Tour of "Then and Now: Charlottesville in the 1970s" at the Vault Virginia

4:00 PM - Mall Birthday Party with FREE ice cream & entertainment (Central Place)

5:30 PM - Baaba Seth Show at Friday's After Five (Ting Pavilion)

This is a logistically challenging event and I will be providing multiple updates in the comments section. I will probably leave after the 12:00 showing of Tour of Then and Now: Charlottesville in the 1970s at the Vault Virginia. I will probably return at 4 PM for the birthday party, entertainment, and free ice cream. I am going to meet people at 9:30 AM. in front of The Paramount Theater and probably again at 4 PM. You don't have to attend every event for the day. We will enjoy Fridays After Five and then join the parade to the other end of the Mall and finish off the day with the 50th Light Show on the Code Building.
