Picnic and Paddle at Beaver Creek
Details
Want to get in some paddling before it’s too chilly to out on the water? Bring your paddle board or kayak and join me for a picnic and paddle at peaceful Beaver Creek. If you don’t have one, consider renting one, especially if paddling is something you’ve always wanted to try, but never alone. If you’re a beginner to paddling, Beaver Creek is a gentle place to learn, and I am happy to give pointers to help you test the waters (no pun intended).
After we’ve decided we’re done with paddling, join me for a picnic lunch. Feel free to bring contributions.
Where to Meet: Beaver Creek County Park, continue through the entrance until you reach the parking lot where the launch is located.
What to Bring:
• your choice of watercraft
• a PFD (personal flotation device -this is non-negotiable and you should always have one on your craft)
• a whistle (you should also have one by law)
• water
• any snacks you may want
• hat, sunscreen, towel
Weather: Poor weather will necessitate a rescheduling of this event.
Dog Policy: Dogs are allowed at Beaver Creek, but they are not allowed to go swimming in the water.
Fees and such: Beaver Creek is free; equipment rental will depend on where you choose to rent, if you choose to do so.
RSVP: If you find yourself unable to attend, as a courtesy to event organizers please update your RSVP.
Equipment Rental: One company you can rent a board from is the Rivanna River Company. They open at 9am Saturdays and you just need to have your board back in to them by 5pm.
