Montpelier Hunt Races - Gauging Level of Interest
Details
This upcoming Saturday is the 91st edition of the Montpelier Hunt Races - held at the beautiful, sprawling property that was once home to James Madison - our 4th President of the United States. Since this is an outdoor event, nice weather is key to having an enjoyable experience. And the current weather forecast for this upcoming Saturday is exactly that - mostly sunny with high temps in the mid to upper 60's.
This posting is just to gauge the level of interest in attending this event.
Here are some basics / logistics:
--General Admission per attendee is currently $30
--General Admission - per vehicle is $40 - therefore carpooling is highly recommended to share the cost - the general admission parking lot will require a walk to the infield portion of the steeple chase racecourse
--Bring an outdoor chair
--Bring snack food / small lunch item to share
--Bring a cooler for drinks
--Optional - bring a small wagon to haul all items from the general parking lot to the racecourse
--Optional - bring about $10 in cash - all in $1 bills - this will be for fun wagering on each individual race - a $2 bet per race is all that is necessary - please note that I have some friends that have a reserved site in the infield - along the fence line - Site #438 - where we would have an opportunity to join there wagering pool for each independent race
Meet-Up Plan:
--we can gather by 8:30AM at the parking lot in front of the Aldi's to form carpools - the address for Aldi's in Charlottesville is 100 Albemarle Square
--meeting by 8:30AM allows event attenders the opportunity to arrive early enough on the event grounds to view the Jack Russell Terrier Races that kick-off at 10:15AM
--if you are able to be a carpool driver, then please post a comment in the "Comment" section
PLEASE NOTE: The ticket pricing for the General Admission parking pass and the General Admission individual entrance fee for each attendee increases the day of the event - here is a weblink to refer to with a listing of outlets for purchasing tickets in advance:
