Sound bath at UVA Contemplative Commons
Details
A sound bath is a meditative sonic experience that eases stress and cultivates rest. Participants sit or lie comfortably while absorbing gentle vibrations from instruments like chimes, drums, and singing bowls.
I have attended this free program 3 times and found it to be restorative. The sound bath is in Studio 3B of UVA's Contemplative Science Center. A few notes:
- You'll need to pay to park in Central Grounds Parking garage (across the street) using the Park Mobile App or the machine on the 2nd floor.
- The Center supplies blankets and yoga mats but I like to bring my own. I also like to bring socks and an eye mask. (I've fallen asleep each time I've attended.)
- You should arrive early to find parking and get a spot in the studio.
- I am limiting the RSVPs to 10 as it gets crowded.
