May is Mountains-to-Sea Trail Month, and we'll be celebrating with a series of hikes on this trail that spans the state. Our objective for this hike: the 10.6-mile stretch between NC 50 and the Rollingview Recreation Area. This is a rolling stretch, mostly along the lake, with remnants of Falls Lake's human past along the way. Learn more about the hike by checking out Day-Hike sections K and L on the Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail website (http://www.ncmst.org/the-trail/plan-your-hike-2/trail-sections/section-26/day-hikes-at-falls-lake/). This hike is rated Moderate for its length; the ticks are out, so long pants are advised; pesky flying bugs are emerging, so bug repellant is advised, too. Bring lots of water; Bring trail snacks (we won't stop for a full-blown lunch break, but we will pause now and then to refuel and reflect). And there are no facilities at the start, end or middle of this hike.
