It's been a while since we walked into darkness; the waning days of summer seems a good time to break the drought. We'll gather at 7 p.m., at the Few's Ford Access to Eno River State Park, for a 4.1-mile figure-8 loop on the Buckquarter Creek and Holden Mill trails. This is a mix of ridgeline and creekside hiking: the occasional view from above, time along the rocky Eno below. There's a bit of climbing — nothing too long, but some short, steep ups. Otherwise, we're in no hurry: the park doesn't close until 10.

Please bring a headlamp; if you don't have one, I have some spares. Let me know in the comments section below if you need one.
