GetHiking! Hanging Rock

Just two hours from Durham and one hour from Greensboro is beautiful Hanging Rock State Park. With miles of trail, it's hard to pick a favorite route.

This hike will take us to three of the overlooks: House Rock, Wolf Rock and Hanging Rock itself. The hike is approximately 5.5 miles and we will be back to the cars before dusk. There are two climbs, the first hill is at the beginning as we head up Magnolia Springs trail to reach the rim and the second climb is at the end with the famous rock steps leading to Hanging Rock. We did this same hike in December last year and it was a lot of fun.

The hike is considered moderate due to the two climbs. We lead from behind and there is ample time to enjoy the views and take great pictures. Grab your camera or phone, a warm jacket and come enjoy the views!
