GetHiking! Falls Lake / MST Flatlander
Details
Few sections of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail along Falls Lake keep their eye on the water as long as this roughly 3-mile stretch, which also among the flattest stretches of the MST along the lake. We'll start from the Hickory Hill Boat Ramp and hike east, through stretches of pine and hardwood, on our way to Cheek Road. This is one of the more remote stretches of MST along the lake, butting up against roadways twice, albeit lesser-traveled roadways. The trail here is less rocky and thus a trail that doesn't demand as much attention to the tread. A pretty swell stretch that we've done more often in dark than daylight: I'm curious to see what it looks like.
Distance: about 6 miles out and back
Difficulty: moderately easy
