George Latham Campout Hike or Kayak

Details

Meetup: George Latham Trail – Clinton Lake

Join us for an outdoor adventure at Clinton Lake’s George Latham Trail! Depending on the weather and group interest, you can hike the scenic 4.5-mile trail or kayak from the Coon Creek boat ramp approximately .5 miles across the lake. Plan on camping at campsite 13. You can hike to the campsite or kayak over, your choice. I will be kayaking over on Friday. I will leave at noon or so to ensure we get a campsite on the water. I will let everyone know when we get closer whether I'm going to kayak or hike over. Also if you're nervous about the crossing it's on a smaller arm of the lake and the open water distance is approximately 2900 ft. The water should still be warm.

If you haven't been to Latham it's a pretty cool area and a good place to get into overnight backpacking. There are no restrooms on the trail but there are restrooms at the parking lot.

📍 Location: George Latham Trailhead, Clinton Lake or Coon Creek Boat Ramp.
👟 Bring: Comfortable shoes for hiking OR kayak/gear if paddling, water, and snacks.
🌿 Difficulty: Moderate (some hills and uneven terrain)

The map shows the campsite location. To get to the trailhead for hiking, Google Woodridge Primitive Park for driving directions. If you are kayaking, Google Coon Creek Boat Ramp.

A great way to enjoy nature, get some fresh air, and connect with others.
