Cave Spring Park is a hidden-gem nature park tucked into the eastern side of Kansas City, near the Blue River corridor. It doesn’t feel like “city park” at all — once you’re inside, it’s surprisingly quiet, wooded, and secluded, with rolling terrain and limestone features that give it a very Ozarks-style vibe.

### 🌳 Landscape & Feel

  • Dense woods with mature trees, shaded trails, and seasonal wildflowers
  • Limestone outcroppings and bluffs, which are uncommon in most KC parks
  • A natural spring and cave area (historically significant — not a tourist cave, but very cool to see)
  • Gentle elevation changes — enough to feel like a hike, not just a flat walk

It’s the kind of place where you forget you’re still in Kansas City after about five minutes.

### 🥾 Trails

  • Roughly 4–5 miles of interconnected dirt trails
  • Trails loop and intersect, so groups can shorten or extend the walk easily
  • Mostly moderate difficulty — some uneven ground and small hills, but nothing extreme
  • Great for:
  • Casual hikers
  • Nature walks
  • Light trail running
  • Dogs (on leash)

Trail surfaces are natural (dirt/leaf cover), not paved — so it feels more like a true woodland hike than a park stroll.

We aill also visit the Peridot Entertainment Plaza afterwards to have beverages and talk about new things to do this year!
