Come join us for a relaxing paddle on the water at one of Topeka's favorite outdoor destinations — Lake Shawnee Adventure Cove!
Whether you're a first-time kayaker or a seasoned paddler, this is a laid-back, all-levels meetup to enjoy the lake, get some fresh air, and connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
📍 Where: Lake Shawnee Adventure Cove — East side of Lake Shawnee, just south of the Bettis Sports Complex at 29th & Croco Rd, Topeka, KS
🚣 What to expect: We'll meet up and launch together for a relaxed 1–2 hour paddle on the lake. Most folks bring their own boats — just load up and come ready to paddle!
Don't have a kayak? No problem! The Cove offers on-site rentals for $8 per hour (Shawnee County Parks and Rec, KS) , making it a great option for first-timers or anyone without gear.
✅ What to bring:
Your kayak, canoe, or paddleboard (rentals available if needed)
Water bottle & sunscreen
Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little wet
Closed-toe shoes or water shoes
📋 A few things to know:
At least one person on each boat must be 16 years of age or older. (Shawnee County Parks and Rec, KS)
Operations may be canceled during inclement weather, including thunder/lightning, tornado watches, or heavy rain (Shawnee County Parks and Rec, KS) — we'll post an update if conditions look rough.
