#### 📍 Event Details

We’ll be kayaking a scenic stretch of the Wakarusa River flowing into Clinton Lake. This section is known for its gentle current, winding bends, and limestone-bottom features—great for a relaxed paddle with some light navigation challenges.
Expect a mix of:

  • Slow-moving water (may require some paddling effort)
  • Possible log jams / strainers (be ready to portage)
  • Wildlife and quiet backwater sections

Clinton Lake at the end offers open water and multiple take-out options.

***

#### 🧭 Route Plan

  • Launch: E 100 Rd, Overbrook, KS 66524
  • Paddle downstream toward Clinton Lake
  • Take-out options:
  • Lake access points
  • Boat ramps like Coon Creek or marina areas if needed

⚠️ Note: The Wakarusa can have limited public access points and occasional blockages, so staying together is recommended.

  • NO INFLATABLES YOU WILL POP THEM!

  • Rope or saw (optional, for minor obstructions)

***

#### ⚠️ Conditions & Flexibility

  • Route and difficulty depend heavily on water levels
  • If levels are low → expect more dragging / portaging
  • If high → faster current and debris

We’ll adjust launch or distance if needed.
