Open Day at Hinton Ampner - Walk & Tour

Details
Every so often certain heritage sites offer free entry to their venues. Hinton Ampner is a National Trust site and will be open to the public for free entry during a set period in September.
Hinton Ampner is an elegant country manor with attaching gardens and topiaries that was lovingly restored by its former owner, Ralph Dutton. Set in the idyllic South Downs, he lived here for much of his life and, on his death, left the estate to the National Trust so that everyone could enjoy its peaceful surroundings as he did.
We can spend our time wandering around the house and gardens and also do a short 2 mile walk around the perimeter of the estate. The plan is to meet at 10.30 am outside the visitor reception area and we'll see what's on offer. Sometimes there's a 50 minute guided tour so that you can get your bearings and learn about the history of the site. If this is available we can join this tour. There's a cafe on site but if anyone wants to bring their own picnic you're more than welcome as there's plenty of seating in the grounds where you can sit and enjoy the vista of the South Downs whilst eating your lunch.
