What an opportunity!
Join me on May 12th at 1020 when I have arranged a visit to the Institute Of Naval Medicine in Gosport. This establishment is very rarely open to members of the public and contains, within a museum, a unique historical collection of rare books with at least one original by Charles Darwin complete with colour plates along with artefacts relating to medical and natural history but nothing gruesome.
I believe the oldest book is dated 1554 or thereabouts.
There is also a room within the museum dedicated to the history of the Queen Alexandra Nursing Corps.
The premises are within a secure MOD site to which entrance is strictly controlled and numbers limited.
From those of you fortunate to ‘grab a spot’ I will require your full names, date of birth and nationalities which I must forward to the establishment within the next ten days.
On the day of the visit these details will be checked against your required photo ID (driving licence or passport) by security officers at the entrance to The Institute Of Naval Medicine before admittance is permitted.
Please remember to bring your photographic identification on the day to ensure admittance.
Any bags or back packs may be subject to examination on entry.
We must enter as a group at 1030 a.m.
The meeting point is outside the Anglesea Hotel at the junction of Crescent Road/St Marks Road.
Please ensure you are at the meeting point at 1020. Late arrival will result in exclusion.
Due to the security constraints there is no wait-list so please do not speculatively grab a spot and do try your very best to attend. I will have to close this event as soon as it is full or at a time to allow the security checks to be completed before the visit.
