### 4 Things Gifted and 2e Students Need with Dr. MaryGrace Stewart
Our children are precious, unique, and varied in themselves and from others. Their social, emotional, and learning needs are highly individual and asynchronous. Therefore, they need content that has depth and complexity, opportunities to explore new ideas, people, places, and things, social connections with peers, appropriate acceleration and pacing, and for us to play to their strengths, follow their bliss, and honor their interests. We also need to be aware of common sensitivities and challenges of being gifted and weave considerations into a kind of “quilt” we create for their learning, growth, and personal development. This may all sound complex but straightforward explanations will be provided as well as opportunities to discuss, interact, and apply them.
Attendees will come away with an understanding of -how to use acceleration, – exploration, – student strengths and interests, and – social/emotional traits to develop and effectively implement home education for their highly able children.
Dr. Stewart is an award-winning veteran of gifted education and founder of IDEAL4Gifted, a gifted education program for homeschooling. She’s a former President of MAGE and has worked with hundreds of families. She’s presented regionally, nationally, and internationally, has designed programs, and has written curricula and articles on gifted topics.
