The Jane Austen Adventurers Club for Women

Do you love Jane Austen? Tea parties? Cultural activities? Nature hikes? Eating yummy food with nice people? Then this may be the Meetup group for you! The Jane Austen Adventurers’ Club is for women who want to make friends as they explore Arizona and participate in activities such as:

·       luncheons & dessert outings
·       museum visits & historic house tours
·       tea parties
·       concerts & plays
·       walks & hikes
·       classes (e.g., cooking, crafts)
·       the occasional book discussion

The group is open to adult women (I'm 54), and its meetups—on average, two per month—take place in the East Valley, although some are further afield. Each event has an attendee limit of 8–12 women; I occasionally schedule events without one. RSVPs often fill quickly.

I typically schedule activities on weekdays (mostly Fridays); some take place on Saturdays and Sundays and a few on weeknights. Please note that I limit some get-togethers (e.g., those at my home) to members who have already previously attended events. Effective January 2026, dues are $10 per person per year. This is to help cover the Meetup organizer fee.

Things to Note/ Group Policies:

Please include a profile picture clearly showing your face.

Kindly keep your RSVPs current. If you need to cancel a reservation, please do so at least 24 hours before the event starts. ‘No-shows’ and frequent last-minute ‘cancellers’ are unfair to everyone involved.

Also, if you’re waitlisted for an event, keep track of your status. If you no longer wish to be on the waitlist, update your RSVP as soon as possible and move yourself to the “Not Going” list.

In the spring of 2023, when I was contemplating what to name this Meetup group, I asked myself, “What are my interests?” I thought, “Well, I like Jane Austen, and I like adventuring.” I put the two together and— voilà!—The Jane Austen Adventurers’ Club was born. Hopefully, it captures a bit of the spirit of Jane Austen, who loved nature walks, books, music, the theater, and socializing.
