Gion Cosplay & Anime Karaoke Night

A small, weekly anime karaoke night inside our snack bar in Gion, Kyoto.
A "snack bar" (スナック) is a tiny neighbourhood bar — usually under twenty
seats, run by a mama, where regulars drink, talk and sing. There are thousands
of them across Japan and almost no visitor ever goes inside one. Not because
they're hidden — ours has a sign — but because nothing about them is aimed at
you, and walking in alone takes more nerve than most people have on holiday.
Ours has 15 seats. Every Friday night we open it up.
WHAT HAPPENS
18:30 Come in, get a drink, meet whoever turned up
19:00 Anime karaoke starts — openings, endings, city pop, whatever you want
20:00 The scheduled part ends. The karaoke does not. Order a drink and stay.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SING
Really. Plenty of people come to listen, clap, film their friends, or just drink
in a place they'd never have found alone. Nobody is put on a stage.

who has ever sung an anime opening in the shower.
