Want to learn how to build your own website? Already have your own Tumblr/Wordpress/etc site, but want to have more control over it? Interested in learning to program but want to start small? This class is for you!

This class is great for beginners - no previous coding experience required!

We will guide you through the basics of HTML and CSS, give you some readily-applicable skills, and answer any questions you may have along the way.

CLASS DATES: This 2-session HTML/CSS course runs over TWO WEEKENDS on Saturdays. Your payment covers attendance for both days.

Class 1: HTML Basics + Introduction to CSS - Saturday, November 14th, 1-5pm

Class 2: CSS Positioning & Page Layout + Common Web Layouts, Tips & Tricks - Saturday, November 21st, 1-5pm

INSTRUCTOR: Sara Cope is a web applications project manager with the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, developer with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and operations guru at CSS-Tricks. She has a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Wright State Univ. When Sara isn't immersed in all things web, she can be found playing tabletop games and supporting her local park system.

REQUIREMENTS:
At this time, you will need to provide your own laptop - PC or Mac - to participate in the course.

Please install the following prior to class:

• Download Sublime Text 3 (http://www.sublimetext.com/3) - the preferred text editor

• Also, as an alternative to Internet Explorer, please install either Chrome (https://www.google.com/intl/en_us/chrome/browser/), Safari (http://support.apple.com/downloads/#safari), or Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html) + Firebug (http://getfirebug.com/downloads).

POLICIES & GUIDELINES: All attendees are expected to abide by the Girl Develop It Code of Conduct (http://girldevelopit.com/codeofconduct).

At least 7 students will need to enroll for this course for it to be hosted. If we have less than 7 students registered for the class as of three days prior to the class start date, we will cancel the class and reschedule for a later date. Any students registered at that time will be refunded their full registration fee.

If you need to cancel, we prefer not to issue refunds and would invest your registration fee back into our scholarship fund. We know sometimes there are extenuating circumstances so please email us if you find yourself in one, but please note that we will not issue refunds for cancellations that occur within 72 hours of the class start date nor can we transfer your registration to another class.
