Have you been asked to 'fork a repo' and have no idea what that means? Then this class is for you!

Git and GitHub is a great way to develop personal or group projects, without losing track of the “good” version!

Git and GitHub also allow people to share and collaborate with others around the world. They are essential tools for any programmer’s tool belt and can make all the difference when you’re learning to code or working on a team.

This class is for people new to Git and Github, as well as people who need a refresher on the basics (like how to link git and github) and the command line.

In this workshop we will go over the following:
• What is git?
• What is github?
• Creating git repos
• Using git to keep your projects organized
• Controlling git with command line
• Sharing your code on GitHub
• Working together on GitHub

Prepare your computer for this workshop:

  1. Create a Github.com (https://github.com/) account
  2. Install Git (https://git-scm.com/downloads) (pick the version appropriate for your OS)

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Your laptop & charger (Don't have one? Let us know!)
• WiFi & power strips will be provided
