Computer Science Fundamentals

This course is for programmers who want to learn the fundamentals of computer science, algorithms and data structures.

Whether you just finished a bootcamp, have no background in algorithms, or it's been a long time since you've studied algorithms, by the end of the course you will come away will a set of tools to analyze and design algorithms.

These skills are used daily by programmers. The concepts are also often evaluated in technical white-boarding interviews, making this course a great interview prep for the spring interview season.

Topics covered:
• What is an algorithm?
• Time and space complexity
• Big O notation
• Searching and sorting
• Data structures

CS Prerequisites:
• Working knowledge of programming fundamentals, such as working with arrays, loops, and functions, is required. A GDI Intro to Programming class in any language is sufficient.

Math Prerequisites:
• Algebra - As we analyze algorithms, we’ll use algebra to simplify expressions.

Tech requirements:
• Your laptop (Mac, PC, Linux) and charger
• A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
• All attendees are expected to abide by the Girl Develop It Code of Conduct (http://www.girldevelopit.com/codeofconduct).

Cost:
$96 for all four classes

This four-part class runs on Thursdays from Nov 29th-Dec 20th. This Meetup page will act as your RSVP for all four classes. Session dates and lessons are:

Payment
Payment is required to attend. Refunds are offered only if the class is rescheduled/cancelled or in extreme circumstances. If you are no longer able to attend, please post your interest in selling your ticket in the comments. If you find a buyer, send a Meetup message to Heather with the name of the buyer. Do not change your RSVP in the Meetup event.

Unfortunately, GDI cannot offer a waitlist. If the class is full, please keep an eye on the comments to see if another student is interested in selling their ticket to you.
