About us

Have you reached your breaking point in your relationship thinking:

“I can't do this anymore, but I'm too _____ (scared, sad, overwhelmed, uncertain, lonely) to leave.”

What if, for now, you could stop trying to answer “Should I stay or should I go? and focus instead on building yourself up for whatever comes next?

Welcome to Girl Talk.

Girl Talk: Relationships Reimagined is a community for women in midlife who are questioning what we've been taught about love, marriage, and being a “good woman," to figure out what you actually want.

We'll have honest conversations about marriage, romantic relationships, divorce, boundaries, identity, friendship, independence and interdependence, and how to cultivate a life for yourself that you don't need or want to escape from.

We'll also examine some of the bigger forces that shape our relationships: traditional gender roles, patriarchy, internalized misogyny, religious and cultural conditioning, people-pleasing, and the unspoken expectation(s) that women should sacrifice themselves to keep relationships and families intact.

This isn't an anti-marriage group. And it isn't a divorce support group. But it is also not a marriage-at-all-costs group.

I am not here to tell women to stay, leave, try harder, forgive more, be more accommodating, or preserve a relationship simply because ending it would make other people uncomfortable.

I'm here to help you ask better questions:

What do I actually want?

What have I been taught to want?

Am I betraying myself to keep the peace?

What does a healthy, equitable relationship look like to me?

Who am I outside of being someone's wife, partner, mother, caretaker, or peacekeeper?

Brené Brown has spoken about Maya Angelou's quote saying: "I belong everywhere I go no matter where I go or who I am with as long as I never betray myself. The minute I become who you want me to be to fit in, is the moment I no longer belong anywhere."

And that's what Girl Talk is about. Learning how to belong to yourself.

I'm not here to give you any answers. I'm here to create enough space for women to hear themselves and trust what they hear.

Welcome to Girl Talk.
