If you are a classy and intelligent woman living in/around NYC and looking for a close group of girlfriends that you can go out with, spend time with, and laugh with, then this group is for you! Though it is not a requirement, the age range of the group happens to be between 25-40. Our events typically take place in Manhattan (with the occasional outer-borough gathering—always open to new spots if suggested) and revolve around going to dinner, wine tasting, brunch, happy hours, concerts, shopping, theater, weekends away, a movie night in and other fun activities. Members are encouraged to arrange their own meet ups for us to explore.
RSVP & Attendance Policy: You should be able to attend at least one event every 3 months! Anyone who has not attended an event within the first 3 months of joining may be removed, as the goal is to be an active member.
If you RSVP Yes, please do not cancel the day of the event, unless it is an emergency. If you need to cancel, do so at least 24 hours in advance and let the organizer know ASAP. No-shows will not be tolerated and can lead to removal from the group. Changing your RSVP on the day of an event without notification is just as bad as not showing up. We take the time to make reservations and hold spots for you. An email, call or text is the most considerate way to handle last minute plan changes, so please keep the event host informed.
Feel free to contact other members outside of the meet ups, as the goal is to make a group of good girlfriends. Take note that I have zero tolerance for disrespectful behavior, flakes and drama. Life is too short for negativity, and I want this group to be all about having fun with genuine people! If you think you'd make a great addition, please join us!
Note From the Organizer:
I decided to take over this group in May 2012, because I love to plan fun events with my girls! Shout out to Lisa D. for originally starting this group (as well as the other 2 lovely "girlfriends" who took over after her - you did a great job!). As we know sometimes life takes over and people move on. However, I have made an amazing circle of friends through Meetup and I'd like to keep that closeness within this group as best as I can.
The amount of members started out as high, but I've lowered it down and prefer to keep it to a small amount for those of us who are actively involved. So, I will most likely only be adding a few new members once a month. I hope that any newbies will soon join this group with the intention of making true friends, and not just faces that we see once a year!
