Learn about Graph Database Applications

GITPRO Seattle is organizing an interesting talk by Jans Aasman
Topic: Big Data Graphs in Health Care: an in depth exploration of a distributed semantic graph database.
Recently, Franz Inc, the leading supplier of Semantic Graph Database
technology, in collaboration with Montefiore Medical Center (the
eighth largest hospital in the U.S.), Intel, Cloudera and Cisco,
announced the first Semantic Data Lake (SDL) for Healthcare, a
scalable and extensible Healthcare platform designed for ACA mandates
and Personalized Medicine initiatives.
The SDL enables knowledge-based analytics, classification, pattern
recognition, predictive modeling, and simulations, all on the same
source of data without creating any intermediate datamarts, using
just one convenient query language.
The SDL platform is basically a distributed semantic graph database
that lives in the hadoop stack. In this platform we combine many
different structured and unstructured data sources from the hospital
and life sciences eco system in one graph. All patient data is
transformed into an elaborate unified clinical event ontology, and all
information in the data lake is ultimately grounded in a unified
terminology system that combines more than 180 terminologies.
In my talk I will talk about the general data flow in the system and
the architecture that allows us to mix both partitioned and
unpartitioned data. How we query the data in a mix of parallel and
federated queries. How we use reasoning on massive scale. How we apply
statistics and machine learning and feed the results back into the
SDL so that predictive analytics and statistical annotations on
patients and diagnosis, and medications becomes an integral part of
the data that can be queries.
All of this will be illustrated with live demos in our state of the
art visualization and discovery tools.
The event is open to all
