Fall River & Trail Ridge Road (Gravel), Plus hiking in RMNP
Details
Park at the Estes Park Visitor Center (500 Big Thompson Ave) or parking garage (they are right next to each other & FREE) and ride 4-5 miles UP to the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park on Highway 34. One park pass will get four cyclists in, which includes the pass holder. Once inside the park, pedal 1-2 miles to the turnoff for the unpaved Old Fall River Rd, which is past sheep lakes at the Endovalley picnic area. I will be there waiting for everyone. Remember, this is gravel, so please be on a gravel bike or a mountain bike. Old Fall River Rd. will be closed to vehicle traffic. We will climb 9.8 miles UP and 3000 ft elevation gain on Old Fall River Road to connect with Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in North America. We can then head up to the Alpine Visitor Center (11,769 ft), or go further to the High Point (12,183). We will descend back down the same way we came up.
