Hike Old Woman Wash to Unexpected Panel
Details
This is a 7.4-mile hike in the San Rafael Swell south of Green River. It's a two-hour drive there and we need to take 4x4 vehicles with some clearance. The road in isn't too bad but we do want to be prepared. The hike requires some route-finding and a little scrambling through incredibly beautiful country and will lead us right to the base of the unique Unexpected Panel.
Meet at the Fruita Welcome Center at 8:00 AM to arrange carpooling and caravaning. Bring your high clearance 4x4 or all-wheel drive vehicle plus all the usual hiking stuff -- water, snacks, hat, sunscreen, poles if you like them.
We may stop at another big pictograph panel on the way back.
Hopefully Ray's in Green River on the way home for dinner. 7:00 PM is an estimated return time based on stopping for dinner.
