It's time to hike Garfield!

It's only about 4-5 total miles, but as you know, straight up and straight down. The down is what gets you.

Bring water and hiking sticks if you like them. Bring your very best shoes. You really need traction on the way down. And of course enough water for the hike.

If you decide that the whole thing is too much, there's a great place to start down when we're halfway up.

We'll go up the Gearhart Mine Route on the way up, and climb into the lovely Lemon Squeezer, where you come through a slit in the rock and can sit out on the cliff.

To get to the trailhead you exit I-70 exit 42 (Palisade) and take the first right *after* the canal (so take the second right, G 7/10 road). You just follow that all the way until it turns right and goes underneath I-70 to the trailhead parking. It's a little rough but any car can do it.

Dogs are OK. Most of them don't want to go into the Lemon Squeezer.
