Special Event: Prioritizing Indigenous Knowledge in Museums
Details
Do you work at a Gallery, Library, Archives or Museum?
Please join us at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design for the opening of the exhibit, *Through Our Eyes, In Our Hands, *5pm-6pm Thursday, March 5. Description from the museum website:
This exhibition centers Native perspectives on museum stewardship, repatriation, and cultural authority. Featuring archival materials, personal narratives, and community-led frameworks.
Through Our Eyes, In Our Hands highlights the voices of NC State students—including co-curator Lee Chavis-Tartaglia (Lumbee), with members of the Native American Student Association—and explores the legal, ethical, and cultural dimensions of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA).
This G.L.A.M. in the Triangle event is in support of the exhibit opening and we are in no way managing the Gregg Museum event.
We can plan to gather nearby for a Happy Hour after the event if there is interest.
Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can be sure to connect!
