Glasgow Enlightenment Walk
Details
Hi walkers! I've been considering a Glasgow Enlightenment walk for a while now. It's not an easy task, as most books and walks on the topic tend to focus on Edinburgh, but it's vital to highlight Glasgow's significant role in the Scottish Enlightenment. For those unfamiliar, the Scottish Enlightenment spanned from the mid-1700s to the early 1800s, during which remarkable individuals made groundbreaking contributions to literature, science, history, medicine, philosophy, architecture, and more—shaping the modern world as we know it. On this walk, you'll discover some of these influential figures, from the "Father of Economics" Adam Smith to poets Thomas Campbell and Robert Burns, architect Robert Adam, the Foulis brothers, and steam-engine pioneer James Watt.
